Savage Fallout campaign

At the moment my own campaign has temporarily ground to a halt as we had to cancel the second game in a row, so I won't be posting a session summary again. But to make it up to you I'll post a little teaser of the dungeon I'm currently working on, called Area 5. ;)

As the story goes, somewhere northwest of New Vegas, about two days travel removed, lies an abandoned military base, bathed in radiation from a direct hit by a nuclear warhead. It's said to be a high tech research facility from before the War, virtually unspoiled, with all sorts of priceless technologies just waiting to be looted by enterprising prospectors, if they can manage to bypass the security robots that still dwell inside, of course. The base is often dismissed as a scavenger myth, as few have any actual information about it, and fewer know even its general location. However Mad Pete, the addled old scavenger turned barfly, claims to have been part of an expedition many years ago and seen the base with his own eyes, a large installation with hangars and ruined aircraft. For a few drinks and some caps he's willing to draw you a map on how to find it, sure. When you ask if he has any proof of his story, he smiles his toothless smile and takes a small metal sign, about the size of a license plate, which he says he found at the chain-link fence, from his knapsack. The sign is rusted and weatherworn, and the right hand side of it seems to have been torn off in an explosion, but you can still make out most of the writing. It reads:

                                                             NOW ENTERI
                                                                      AREA 5
                                                        RESTRICTED ZO

Coming soon!

  1. It sucks that the game seems to have stopped, even temporarily - but I have to thank you for the downloads you put up, they are serving as a basis for my own Savage Fallout game

  2. I love this hook. The idea of "prospecting" in Area 51 has me drooling. I hope your group picks up again and it all pans out well for you.

  3. Thanks all, glad it's of some use for others. I hope to have the write-up and some maps for Area 5 up later this week!

  4. Äh, I hope you some day get your Fallout campaign on it's feet again, it's been a good read, not to mention valuable pdfs you've created.

Anyway, good luck with any future campaigns!

  5. Thanks Cursed, I'm sure it will pick up again, hope to be flinging mole rats at my players next week! :D How's your campaign going?

  6. Not even started, just planning. :)

Now it's all Hellfrost (excellent world/material!) and (at much slower pace) homemade mix and match, where everything goes (just for the possibility to experiment with Savage Worlds and different worlds), dimension hopping stuff.

Sure you will give the characters The Repellent Stick. After they've beaten all molerats by conventional means? :)

  7. Dimension hopping, sounds interesting! Will it be cross genre as well, like from fantasy to SF worlds?

The Repellent Stick awaits the stalwart adventurer at the end of the Mole Rat maze in the Mole Rat's king Mole Rat castle, of course. ;)

  8. Yes, it's based on "true self" of one of the players, she has to repair her damaged soul (cracked, heart shaped red crystal) in a dream world. All other dimensions/realities are echoes of that "master reality" and contain shards of her soul which she must collect and use to repair her soul.

It's solo campaign with other players coming and going as they please and have time. When main character visits other worlds, her character could be anything. But it's always based on that "her true self" template.

It's an exercise for me as a Savage Worlds GM to try different settings with no limits.

  9. @Cursed: that sound really exciting. :-)

I tried setting up a dimension hopping campaign once, after reading the Chronicles of Amber and being impressed with the whole "shadows" concept. Didn't work out at the time, but I am still fond of the idea.
